Tim Minear

Screenwriter and director Tim Minear began his career in the mid-1980s, working as assistant director on Stuart Gordon's H.P. Lovecraft-inspired cult hit "Re-Animator" and the Penelope Spheeris action comedy "Dudes." After writing the screenplay for the 1990 black comedy "Diggin' Up Business," Minear moved from film into television with writing credits for the short-lived early '90s series "Zorro." Following a stint on the writing staff of "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" and a couple of episodes of "The X-Files," Minear began a long-held collaboration with Joss Whedon, working as a screenwriter, director and producer on Whedon's "Angel" and "Firefly." The critically-acclaimed cult favorite "Wonderfalls" followed, which Minear executive-produced alongside show creators Bryan Fuller and Todd Holland. Unfortunately, the outcry when that low-rated show was canceled was not widely repeated following the cancellation of Minear's next two efforts, "The Inside" and "Drive": outside of Minear's steadily increasing cult following, little attention was paid. Minear returned to television with 2010's comic crime drama "Terriers," starring Donal Logue.
