After being withdrawn from the failed Gallipoli campaign, Anzac troops dig into trench warfare along the Western Front in early 1916 in an attempt to stop the German retreat.

At Flers and Pozieres, the Anzacs are introduced to the full horrors of industrialised warfare including machine guns, tanks, barbed wire, and gas attacks. They begin to understand the nature of war on the Western Front.

In 1917, the Anzacs face both triumph and failure in a number of seminal battles, including Bullecourt, Ypres, Messines, and Menin Road.

The team explore the killing field of Passchendaele, where Anzac battalions fought while artillery sank in liquid mud.

The Anzacs feel the brunt of Germany's Operation Michael, the biggest offensive of World War I, at the infamous town of Billers-Bretonneux.

Follows the final days of the war as the Germans implement their scorched earth policy and attempt to destroy everything in their path home.
