Part 1

Urgently sent to rejoin his unit in Leningrad, captain Igor Petrov realises that he will be arrested upon arrival. Travelling on the same train is Senka Pepel, a famous thief transporting his latest loot to the leader of the gang.

As soon as Petrov leaves the buyer's house, two thieves are sent to apprehend him. After they hunt him down and demand the money, a fight ensues, during which he kills both attackers.
