During a live broadcast, Silvio Santos loses his voice, to the despair of his team at the channel SBT. Santos is advised to hastily promote the young and popular Gugu Liberato to replace him to protect advertising revenue, but is reluctant.
Silvio Santos is diagnosed with a polyp in his throat and flees the media circus around him while his wife Íris insists that he go to the United States for a series of special treatments.
In the United States, Silvio Santos discovers that he will have to undergo a risky surgery to repair the throat ailment; in Brazil, Gugu is probed by rival channel Rede Globo.
At SBT, Íris and Stanislau arrange for Gugu to take over the Sunday program, saving the station from bankruptcy, although Santos hasn't been notified of the decision. In 1970, Santos wins the Press Prize for Best Presenter.
Silvio Santos returns to Brazil and is furious to discover the decisions that SBT has taken during his absence; in 1971, during the recording of the program, Silvio suspects that he will be fired from Rede Globo and outlines plans to stay on air.
Silvio Santos reveals to Íris the seriousness of his health problem. Stunned, he feels haunted by something evil while he resumes his activities at SBT.
