Martin Clunes embarks on an oceanwide adventure in search of the real Pacific, inspired by reading a book given to him as a child by his father about the Kon-Tiki expedition across the Pacific.

Martin explores French Polynesia through French baguettes, local wine and a Polynesian outrigger. He dives into the deep sea and swims with sharks and sails to the remote Marquesas Islands to meet a local horse whisperer.

Martin climbs an active volcano in Vanuatu, and meets a tribe that worships Prince Philip. In Tonga, he meets a representative of the third gender and a princess.

Martin explores the Galápagos Islands, home to species of seal, iguana, turtle, penguin and shark. He participates in conservation visits, meets a nun, treads on an organic farm and the site of a murder mystery.
Martin travels to Papua New Guinea to experience life among the subsistence farmers of the Trobriand Islands. He also visits the volcanic isle of New Britain, where he is reminded of the fragility of island existence in the Pacific Ocean.
From Manila's jeepneys and bamboo bikes to Catholic fiestas and family feasts, Martin explores the wonderful sights of the Philippines, including tribal burials, rice god rituals, shamans and cuddly tarsier primates.
Martin travels to Guam to see the effects of invasive species on remote islands and discovers animals driven to the edge of extinction; in Palau, he learns about marine conservation and meets the endangered hawksbill turtle and the rare dugong.
