Despite the Hebron massacre, Alma hosts a happy Purim television special on the same day. Later, she meets her new roommate, with whom she forms a deep bond. Together, they decide to travel to Sinai, where they come face-to-face with death.

On the evening of Yom Kippur, Alma learns that Ben is planning to fast. When Ben tries to persuade her to pray with him, Alma is reluctant as she is not sure what to make of it.

Alma and Ben travel to Amsterdam, where they hope to rebuild their challenged relationship. When Alma tries to escape, the two end up on a North Sea island, where they celebrate Hanukkah with a local Jew.

After meeting a former penitent, Alma travels to Rabbi Nachman's in Ukraine, where she meets Dalit. Later, she tells Ben that they cannot live together and moves in with Dalit.

Ben makes a marriage proposal to Alma, but the two receive strong resistance from their families. Finally, they decide to leave their home in Tel-Aviv and start a new life together elsewhere.
