Five diverse teens meet in a year 12 English tute class, with teacher Mr E at the helm; Charlotte and Leon seem to have a history; Alex appears to know the local drug dealer; Zali welcomes shy non-binary student Jamie into the LGBTQI crowd.

Alex has been forced to repeat year 12 due to a number of health issues caused by his epilepsy, and has been secretly using weed to help his epilepsy and anxiety. After Mr E almost catches him in the act, they bond over music.

Zali starts to struggle under the pressure of teachers, her strict father, her jealous girlfriend, and her desire for control; Jamie can't find time for their new-found friends as they must look after their younger brother Max.

Mr E can't see his son, gets into an awkward situation with Alex, and spots too many of his students while on a date; Legs learns of Leon's feelings for Charlotte, which causes issues for all of them.

Charlotte tears into Legs for sharing her nudes, and learns she has friends when Jamie and Zali help her out. Devastated after learning her dad gambled her money away, she runs away and meets the charismatic Carlyle.

Drama ensues at the first big party of the year; Emma and Zali end things; Jamie reveals their feelings; Legs finds out the truth about Leon and Charlotte; Alex and Sammy share a secret; a student ends up in hospital.
