Although the most important thing is what's inside, it's also possible to make the outside of a present look great. Possum receives some instructions in how to nicely wrap things, but he may be up to something with Sally's spanner.

Possum likes the artistic idea of `taking a line for a walk'. He begins making a large picture in the garden with a long rope. He and Sally need to find something to colour in the shapes.

Sally and Possum are joined by special guest Jay Laga'aia, the school's crossing guard, and with his help they learn about safely crossing the road.

Possum discovers certain objects that can float in his soup before Jay arrives with a much larger item that floats: a kayak. Jay, Sally and Possum set out to discover how the vessel remains buoyant.

Sally and Possum head for the garden to dig up some potatoes. Sally leaves the potatoes to dry in the sun, but when Possum returns to retrieve them, they have gone missing.

Possum grows suspicious about the sun's movements. He sees a strange projection on the tree, copying his movements, and Sally explains his shadow to him.
