It's the 31st of December, somewhere in Geneva; eight players sit around a poker table; at stake is almost half a million francs.

Agent Hans Koller probes a case of industrial espionage in which stolen HR files were lost in a game of cards, while Vincent presides over the poker game's early stages as the first player is knocked out.

A power cut plunges the game into darkness, leading the police surveillance team to wonder whether it was intentional. As the game continues, the cameras reveal a cheater.

Agent Koller and Clara Pestalozzi realise that there is a cheat, and as they struggle to unearth his identity, the other players grow suspicious. Meanwhile, another participant is knocked out of the game.

At midnight, the players take a break to raise a glass to the New Year and their good fortune, for those who still believe in it.

Gambling outside casinos is not allowed, so a poker game with half a million at stake is definitely illegal.
