Former athletes, including Olympians and professional football players, try to get back in shape and change their lives.

As the trainers and contestants get to know each other, one player refuses to discuss what led to her weight gain; the contestants race through an obstacle course carrying a punching bag; Dr. Huizenga meets with the players; weigh-in.

The contestants take part in two challenges, including one that tests nutrition knowledge, in order to gain pound advantages at the weigh-in.

A lottery determines which contestant goes home with their trainer; two eliminated contestants vie for a chance to compete for one more week.

The challenge winners get to sideline a member of the opposing team; the players must air race across a canyon and put together a puzzle.

The contestants face their first temptation: a tailgating challenge featuring stadium food favourites; a contestant opens up about childhood issues.
