The Larkins

Everyone in the village is excited about the May Day Fair, but with Mariette's news, the Larkins' future is far from rosy.

With their wit, charm, and a little bit of cunning, the Larkins woo Charley the taxman; Mariette agrees to put her plans on hold and stay for the summer, but with the arrival of Charley and Tom Fisher, her heart is pulled in many directions.

Ma, worried that Pop is working too hard, books a weekend in Margate, leaving Charley and Mariette to mind the kids.

News reaches Pop that the train station is to close, so with the help of the reluctant Miss Chand and the villagers, Pop seizes the opportunity to save the railway and make money too; Mariette fights with Pauline; Charley makes a big decision.

With the imminent arrival of her sister, Ma is beside herself and cleaning like a demon, while Pop smells self-interest from local developers.

The Larkins go to extreme lengths to convince Mariette not to leave for France; the glamorous Angela Snow arrives and sets tongues wagging, adding extra fuel to gossip started by the Normans; Pop and Ma have champagne-worthy news.
