There are 300 species of marsupials in existence around the world, and they are the dominant mammal of Australia, forced to diversify by some of the most challenging environments on earth.
Marsupials develop unique adaptations to withstand the hostile conditions of the Australian continent, such as desert specialists from small carnivorous hunters to the red giant kangaroo.
While marsupials once flourished in Australia, their natural habitat and survival are now being threatened and their future is uncertain.
