In 1997, Detective Russell Poole leads the first major investigation into the murder of The Notorious B.I.G. and 10 years later, Detective Greg Kading reopens the still-unsolved case.

Kading and Dupree brief the Biggie Smalls Task Force on the case's popular theories. Poole and Miller travel to Las Vegas to investigate a possible connection between Biggie and Tupac's murders.

Frustrated by a lack of progress, the Task Force question Kading's leadership. RHD investigates a bank robbery. Biggie warns Tupac about his dangerous new friends.

The Task Force track down a person of interest. Miller interviews Biggie's widow after Poole is put on a new case. Meanwhile, Tupac faces legal trouble and goes to record at Quad Studios in New York.

Poole and Tyndall investigate a dirty cop, the Task Force receive promising results from a ballistics test, and Biggie releases Who Shot Ya which spurs Tupac to make a risky alliance.

The Task Force make progress on a suspect, Poole continues to clash with Lieutenant Larson, and Biggie and Tupac find themselves at the centre of a growing rivalry.
