Qiubai, Gongshuo, Roulan, Zhai Xing and Miaomiao investigate the mysterious murder of a young woman at Qingmu's homecoming party.

Gongshuo sifts through the list of attendees and invitees to identify their suspect; Qingmu is devastated over the murder of her close friend; Qingmu asks Qiubai to let her help him solve the case.

Qiubai, Ruolan and Qingmu ask Mr Zou about his whereabouts on the night of the accident; Gongshuo and Zhai Xing wait for Qiubai at the police station to update him on the progress of the investigation; Qiubai resigns from his position.

Qiubai and Qingmu visit officer Cao to learn about their father's death case; desperate in need of money, Gongshuo and Zhai Xing rob a pawn shop; Qingmu tells Qiubai that she wants to work with the detective agency.

Gongshuo tries to get information about Mr Li's bank account but fails when his fiancee barges in and takes him away; Qingmu does an autopsy on Mr Li's body; Qiubai indirectly investigates Li Guangran.

Qingmu gets discharge from the hospital; Gongshuo and Zhai Xing struggle to keep the material without Qingmu; the investigators discover another murder case.
