Bad Blake is approaching 60 and has a string of marriages and a successful career as a country music star behind him. His life now consists of little more than travelling alone from town to town to play in small bars. Then he meets journalist and single mother Jean Craddock. However, Blake's battle with the booze is far from over, and it threatens to block his road to a new, fulfilling life.
