At 48, Tom Villeneuve is finally free. Wrongly accused of the murder of his wife, Tom has just spent 17 years in prison. Combative, he studied law in prison and when he was released, he became a lawyer. Back in his hometown, Nice, he is well decided.

Patrick Andrès, a fisherman with no history, goes to the police station to confess to the murder of a notorious drug trafficker. Tom, touched by his story, decides to defend him, to prove that he was threatened with death.

While she had accused him 17 years previously, Rachel, Anna's best friend, calls on Tom to defend her husband, accused of having killed his mistress. The opportunity for the lawyer to continue to dig into his own investigation.

While preparing for the Olympics, gymnast Justine Petrini is accused of having stolen Napoleon Bonaparte's death mask from the Masséna museum, leaving a collateral victim. Tom does not believe she is capable of murder.
