Actress Paula Garces is part of a new generation of emboldened Hispanic American performers. In 2010, she not only continues to work in high-profile film and TV projects such as the SyFy TV drama "Warehouse 13," she also has created and hosts her own TV newsmagazine, "The Look," and unveiled her first comic book, "Aluna," at the 2010 Comic-Con convention in San Diego. She first jump-started her acting career in the late 1990s with a seven-episode stint on soap opera stalwart "The Guiding Light." Following a recurring role on the procedural drama "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" in 2005, Garces hit pay dirt in 2006 with a regular part on the acclaimed Shawn Ryan-created police series "The Shield." She starred as Officer Tina Hanlon in more than 30 episodes, from 2006 through 2008. She has also found success on another science-fiction TV series, "Defying Gravity," for the Canadian TV network CTV. It tells the story of eight astronauts living aboard a spacecraft engaged in a remote mission.
