Lorelai wakes up in bed with Christopher the morning after her argument with Luke and faces the reality of her impulsive act and her belief that the engagement is over.

Momentous changes are in the air as Rory and Dean take a major step forward in their relationship, to Lorelai's dismay, Emily and Richard admit that they're separated, and Kirk decides to let Lulu in on the deep, dark secret of his night terrors.

After Rory makes love with her former boyfriend, Dean who is married, she argues bitterly with Lorelai, who is disappointed by her daughter's choices.

On the eve of Rory's graduation, Emily and Richard throw her a party and perform a song in her honour. At the party, Lorelai and Christopher are reunited for the first time and are relieved they can be friends. Logan also has a shock for her.

With Rory fretting over her future after graduation, Lorelai decides to cheer her up with a day of pampering, shopping and eating. Lorelai invites Luke to join her and Rory at a karaoke night.

Feeling bad that her relationship with Dean has become awkward, Lorelai suggests that she and Luke go on a double date with Rory and Dean.
