When Charlie learns that his credit rating is ruined, and his debts are all overdue, he discovers that his accountant, Stan, is completely inept. At Alan's urging, Charlie tries to reduce his spending habits, but he has a difficult time giving up his luxuries.

Charlie is nominated for an advertising award but decides to boycott it because his arch nemesis always wins. Rose is having relationship problems with Gordon and seeks help from Charlie.

Charlie gets even more unwanted houseguests after Alan burns down Lyndsey's home.

Alan has trouble deciding if he should bring his younger girlfriend to Jake's birthday party to meet his mum and his ex-wife. Rose tries to get her boyfriend to act more like Charlie.

Rose keeps 'cheating' with Charlie. Alan's plea to family for money, to advertise his chiropractic office, quickly devolves into a Ponzi scheme.

Charlie has trouble keeping up with Mia's healthy lifestyle, so he begins to sneak beers, cigars and burgers behind her back. When Mia finds out, Charlie has to decide if he is truly in love with her or just whipped.
