Padraic Delaney

Born in County Wexford, Ireland, Pádraic Delaney was originally intending to study engineering at university, but dropped out to attend Trinity College in Dublin. He graduated in 2001 with a degree in Drama and Theatre and went to work on the stage. In 2005 he played supporting roles on Irish TV shows "Pure Mule" (RTÉ Two, 2005-2009), and "The Clinic" (RTÉ One, 2003-2009). The next year, Delaney made a major impression. His starring performance in legendary filmmaker Ken Loach's "The Wind That Shakes the Barley" (2006) helped propel the film to win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and he played the lead role on the Irish series "Legend" (RTÉ, 2006). He was a series regular on the first two seasons of the historical soap opera "The Tudors" (BBC Two/Showtime, 2007-2010) and had a six-episode arc on the third season of "Raw" (RTÉ, 2008, 2013), then played a supporting role in "The Man Who Knew Infinity" (2016) starring Dev Patel and Jeremy Irons. In 2017, it was announced that Delaney would be one of the lead characters in "Knightfall," an action-drama, telling the story of the last days of the Knight Templar.
