Miley's ex-boyfriend comes back and wants to be friends. She reluctantly agrees, then is angry to find out the co-star in his latest film is her arch enemy Michaela.

Jake returns home to Malibu, and is eager to re-kindle his relationship with Miley. However, he soon learns that in this case absence hasn't necessarily made the heart grow fonder.

Miley and Jackson have forgotten their father's 40th birthday, so they plan a surprise birthday party and try to pretend they haven't forgotten after all.

Miley has a throat problem which might jeopardise her career as Hannah unless she has an operation. Her mother, played by Brooke Shields, appears in a dream to assure her everything will be alright.
