JD questions the bond he has with his interns when Dr Kelso tells him that inevitably he will begin treating them badly, as it has been throughout history at the hospital. The Janitor further complicates matters by telling JD that his interns only laugh at his jokes to suck up to him. Meanwhile, Carla visits Elliot at her new job and inadvertently creates an awkward new nickname for her friend.

Turk and Carla turn JD's old bedroom into a nursery for the baby, the Janitor seizes an opportunity to shove JD out of the picture for a day, Elliot uses her mother to learn information about Keith's peers, and Turk accuses Dr Cox of not being hip. Perry also accuses him of the very same thing.

After finding out that Turk is still talking to an ex-girlfriend, Carla moves out to think things through.

JD is excited about his first date with Kylie, and the hospital is shutdown when it emerges that a patient may have SARS.

During the final moments of his last day, JD begins to wonder about the future after he leaves Sacred Heart, if his relationship with Elliot will survive, or if he will remain close to his best friend Turk, and even if Dr Cox will miss him when he is gone.
