During a live program, Silvio Santos loses his voice, to the despair of his team at SBT. He is advised to hastily call the young and popular Gugu Liberato to replace him and keep the day's advertisers, but is reluctant to accept this idea.

Silvio Santos is diagnosed with a polyp in his throat and flees the media circus around him while his wife Íris insists that he go to the United States for a series of special treatments.

In the United States, Silvio Santos discovers that he will have to undergo a risky surgery to solve the problem in his throat, which may cost his voice and bring to an end his career as a TV presenter on SBT.

In Miami, Silvio Santos befriends Hector, the Mexican driver responsible for taking him to the doctor. Ìris and Stanislau arrange for Gugu to take over the Sunday program, saving the network from bankruptcy without Silvio knowing.

Silvio Santos returns to Brazil and becomes furious when he discovers the direction that SBT has taken during his absence. In 1971, during the recording of the show, Silvio suspects he will be fired from Rede Globo and makes plans to stay on the air.

Silvio Santos reveals to Iris the seriousness of his health problem. Stunned, he feels haunted by the plagues of Egypt as he returns to his activities at SBT despite his ailing health.
