S4, E14: When a perennially sick child is admitted to Hope Zion by his mother, Alex and Bishop struggle to get to the bottom of the child’s laundry list of illnesses. As they continue to dig, however, all signs begin to point to the mother, forcing Alex and Bishop to walk a tightrope to get to the truth. Meanwhile, Charlie treats an aging Sci-Fi actor for a neck injury. But after the tests reveal a malignant spinal tumour, Charlie must weigh his relationship to his own illness when convincing the braggadocious entertainer to seek treatment. In the ward, after nearly losing her medical license, Maggie is clinging to the mantra "better safe than liable." But when the victim of an armed robbery pleads with her to remove the bullet, Dana helps the gun-shy Dr. Lin re-discover the joys and rewards of compassionate medicine.
