Emily Cox

Emily Cox was an Austrian actress who broke out in the United States in 2015 after appearing in the epic historical series "The Last Kingdom" (BBC America, 2015-). Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, Cox always knew she wanted to make a living as a professional actress. In her early 20s she began auditioning for TV and film roles in her native Austria, eventually landing parts in a couple of short films, as well as a guest role on "Vienna Crime Squad" (ORF 1, 2005-). Although the experience allowed Cox to hone her craft, it wasn't until she nabbed a supporting part in the 2010 horror film "Rammbock" that her acting career really began to take off. Over the next few years she nabbed parts in a number of TV movies, including "The Village" (2010), "Killerjagd. Schrei, wenn du dich traust" (2010), and "Der Täter" (2010), as well as on TV shows like "Bukow and König" (1971-). Cox continued landing mostly roles on Austrian-produced television shows throughout the early 2010s, but by 2014 she started appearing in more films. Cox appeared in two films in 2014, the award-winning drama "Futuro Beach," and the historical adventure film "The Silent Mountain." Her appearance in both films added further luster to Cox's already growing status as a serious actress, so when the producers of "The Last Kingdom" were casting international actors for the new historical series set in the ninth century, Cox immediately landed the role of Brida. "The Last Kingdom" debuted on BBC America in October 2015, and was additionally aired on BBC Two in the U.K.
