Jan D'Arcy

Jan D'Arcy was an actress best known for her work in television, especially playing the role of Sylvia Horne on "Twin Peaks" (ABC, 1990-1991/Showtime, 2017-). Born in Oneida, NY, D'Arcy scored her first role in the low-budget horror film "Sweet Revenge" (1976), a well she would continue to gravitate towards for most of her career. She scored her big break when she was cast as Sylvia Horne, mother to the teenage femme fatale Audrey Horne (Sherilyn Fenn) in David Lynch and Mark Frost's surreal mystery drama "Twin Peaks" (ABC, 1990-1991/Showtime, 2017-). She would later revive the part in Lynch's divisive film adaptation, "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" (1992), though her scenes were left on the cutting room floor. The next year saw D'Arcy score her most prominent film role, in the plane crash thriller "Alive" (1993), while also appearing as a judge in "Tooms," a notorious episode of "The X-Files" (FOX, 1993-2002, 2016). The next two decades saw D'Arcy working steadily in direct-to-DVD horror movies and Lifetime movies of the week, before she got the call from David Lynch to reprise the role of Sylvia Horne for the much-anticipated third season of "Twin Peaks."
