Myles Wilder

Myles Wilder was the son of W. Lee Wilder, B-movie director, and nephew of Oscar-winning film writer/director Billy Wilder. After his uncle had made a name for himself, Myles's father moved the family west to pursue moviemaking in Hollywood. Growing up in the midst of filmmakers, it's little wonder Myles pursued show business. Like his father and uncle before him, Myles was a writer. He earned his first screen credit in 1953 for co-writing "Phantom From Space," a science-fiction feature that was directed by his father. He went on to work on a series of sci-fi tales, before moving into television in 1960, writing for the western series "Bonanza" and "Wagon Train." He found his niche writing teleplays and went on to work for a number of comedy series, among them "The Patty Duke Show," "McHale's Navy," " Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.," "Get Smart," "The Brady Bunch," "Diff'rent Strokes," and "The Dukes of Hazzard." Myles retired in the mid '80s, after 30 years in the business writing for more than 40 projects. Myles died on April 20, 2010. He was 77 years old.
