The documentary miniseries “Soñando alto” sets out to show the importance of pursuing our destiny, as told through an expedition that follows athletes from diverse backgrounds who are brought together to climb the tallest peak in the Americas: Aconcagua (22, 837 feet above sea level). The trek is merely a pretext to personal growth and development. The group is comprised of: a blind soccer player, a captain and named the world’s best on various occasions, who has never accepted limits imposed on him; an athlete who refuses to back down despite having suffered a double amputation of the legs; a gold medal basketball player and former NBA star who came out of retirement after overcoming health issues; the oldest marathon runner in South America who took up running at 72 because she “still had a lot to see”; an ex-con who discovered rugby while serving time and found new meaning in his life thanks to the sport; and a bullfighter who faced death more times than he can remember and thanks to every injury he’s suffered, has come to see that the journey itself is more important than reaching the destination.
