Paul Sapiano

Born in England, Paul Sapiano worked at RSA, the production house founded by Ridley and Tony Scott. In 1996, Sapiano relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his career. Starting at the bottom, he worked as a production assistant on a number of commercials. At the same time, he was slowly putting together a showreel of comedy bits to show to potential clients, which landed him his first directing work. His campaign for Optometric Options won him two prestigious Belding Awards, attracting big-name clients like Dell Computers to his hilarious off-kilter style. He also began writing screenplays at this time. In 2007, he completed "The Boys & Girls Guide To Getting Down," a ribald independent comedy that follows a group of friends as they navigate the wild nightlife of Los Angeles in search of a hookup. The film quickly built a cult following and became a festival favorite. Sapiano's unique directing style, incorporating on-screen charts, graphs and other visual data into the comedy, drew raves from critics. Comedy Central saw promise in the concept and hired him to produce a television pilot based on the film, which has yet to air. He followed it up with the 2011 comedy "Hollywood Sex Wars," which was released through Warner Brothers Distribution.
