Alan Van Sprang is most remembered for his appearances on "The Tudors" and in the zombie films of horror legend George Romero. However, he has also played a variety of film and television roles in both his native Canada and the United States Van Sprang got his start in acting 23 years later on an episode of "Robin's Hoods." He worked primarily in television for the next few years before scoring a small role alongside Tom Arnold in the comedy "Carpool," and another with Patrick Stewart in the "Die Hard"-lite "Masterminds." Van Sprang finished out the 1990s with appearances on multiple television shows including the movie adaptations "Highlander: The Raven" and "La Femme Nikita." Van Sprang returned to film in 2000 with the Abbie Hoffman biopic "Steal This Movie," but continued to work primarily in television, with recurring roles on "Soul Food" and "Earth: Final Conflict." He collaborated with George Romero for the first time in 2005 in the zombie flick "Land of the Dead," but went on to work with the director again, taking on the more major role of military man "Nicotine" Crockett in both "Diary of the Dead" and "Survival of the Dead." In 2009 Van Sprang landed his most visible role yet: advisor-to-the-king Sir Francis Bryan in the Showtime series "The Tudors."
