Robert Macfarlane

Robert Macfarlane is a British non-fiction writer, and a Fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge. Macfarlane is best known for his books on landscape, nature, place, people and language, which include The Old Ways, Landmarks, The Lost Words, Underland and Is a River Alive? In 2017, Macfarlane received The E. M. Forster Award for Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 2022 and 2024, he was named as an outside contender for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
