Juan Sanchez (Cesar Herrera) is a teenager caught up in the Latino gang culture of Los Angeles. After Juan is convicted of murder, he is given an unusual sentence -- he must live for months with a family who have lost one of their children to gang-related violence. Though the hardened and street-smart youth initially bristles at this situation, he eventually begins to see outside of his gang mentality and even starts to fall for Kate Romero, the family's daughter.
