Basketball means the world to the inhabitants of the Wind River Indian Reservation in central Wyoming, who rally around their high school team to help forget the hardships that plague their community. For those young players on the court, however, basketball might be their best ticket out of an existence marked by alcoholism, poverty and suicide. They face racism and hostility whenever they play off the reservation -- and the game has never seemed more important.
