Detour

New York Pianist Tom Neal hitchikes West to join his girlfriend, accepting a ride from affable gambler Edmund MacDonald. En route, MacDonald suffers a fatal heart attack and Neal panics, disposing of the body, and taking the car and money. He drives on, only to pick up a woman hitchiker who previously hitchiked with the gambler and who realizes the pianist is not who he pretends to be.
