Pure Scum

Set over the course of a single night in Melbourne, Pure Scum follows Ayden and Jesse, two recently graduated private-school boys who believe consequences don’t apply to them. After a drug-fueled car crash, they flee the scene and disappear into the city’s nightlife, determined to outrun responsibility through excess. Ayden, a brilliant but volatile outsider within elite circles, masks resentment beneath intelligence and control. Jesse, older and impulsive, thrives on confidence and indulgence, embracing recklessness as freedom. As police activity intensifies across the city, the pair drift through bars, clubs, and backstreets, their bond fracturing under fear, ego, and suppressed rage. What begins as escapism quickly turns dangerous. Casual entitlement escalates into cruelty, and chance encounters push the night toward irreversible consequences. Separated as the night deepens, both young men descend along different paths — Jesse surrendering to impulse, Ayden retreating into paranoia and manipulation — each choice narrowing their options.
