The Building
Stuck in her apartment because of a difficult pregnancy, reporter Jules Wilde is bored and restless. When one of her friends gives her a baby monitor as a shower present, she discovers that she is able to pick up her neighbor's phone calls on the monitor. Egged on by her best friend Lily, Jules quickly becomes addicted to eavesdropping on her Manhattan neighbors. What starts off as a game quickly turns sinister when she hears things that make her believe one of her neighbors, Monk, is a murderer. The police are non-responsive and even Lily is skeptical when Jules tries to convince them that Monk is a killer. Later that night another one of her neighbors, Irina, falls off the roof of the building under mysterious circumstances and dies. Instead of being suspicious of Monk, the police make Jules, who had a history of run-ins with the dead woman, their main suspect. Jules soon becomes convinced that someone else in the building is the killer. In order to clear herself, she has to prove her case to the police detectives, one of whom, Ari Grossman, is an old boyfriend. The twisting path to the truth results in a surprise ending in which Jules, alone and physically challenged, must outwit the murderer before he, or she, can get to Jules.
