The Novena

Jeanne is a doctor. She believes she’s responsible for the death of a patient and her baby. In desperation, she flees her Montreal home and lands in Ste. Anne de Beaupré, a famous pilgrimage site dedicated to Ste. Anne. Jeanne wants to kill herself and threatens to jump into the St. Lawrence River, but a young man who has come to pray Ste. Anne for his dying grandmother stops her. He becomes attached to that torn, complex, non-believer woman.
