The Outrage
Academy Award winner Paul Newman stars as a bandit who stands trial for rape and murder in this classic English-language reimagining of Akiro Kurowsawa's classic Rashomon--The Outrage. The American Southwest, 1870s. At a train depot, the three witness to the crime compare stories after the trial. Each of the three has a very different story to tell--with very different versions of who is guilty--yet all three stories are true. Based on the play Rashomon by Fay Kanin and Michael Kanin, which was based on the Film Rashoman, written and directed by Akira Kurosawa, which in turn was based on the short stories "Rashomon" and "In a Grove," by Ryunosuke Akutagawa.
