Arie Luyendyk Jr.

Race car driver and ``Bachelor" Arie Luyendyk Jr. was born in The Netherlands, the son of Arie and Mieke Luyendyk. A resident of the United States since the age of 3, he grew up with his sister and younger twin brothers in Brookfield, Wisc. Following in his father's footsteps, Luyendyk took an interest in racing, beginning with karts in 1992, and six years later moved to the Sports Car Club of America Formula Ford competition. He qualified for and competed in the 2006 Indianapolis 500, and in the 2007-08 A1 Grand Prix season, he was the "rookie driver" for A1 Team Netherlands. He continued to advance in racing, competing at the Firestone Indy Lights Series for Andersen Racing and Alliance Motorsports, winning the designation of "Most Popular Driver" for four consecutive years. In 2013 he jumped to off-road racing with an entry in the Stadium Super Trucks Series, where he landed several podium finishes. He's also served as an analyst for racing broadcasts, including for Versus and NBC Sports Network airings of Indy Lights races. Off the track, Luyendyk has appeared on a season of "Hell's Kitchen" (2009), and the chefs paid a visit to the event in which Luyendyk participated. He also appeared as a bachelor vying for the attentions of Emily Maynard on "The Bachelorette" (2012). Though he did not win the final rose, he moved on to be the one giving out the roses in Season 22 of "The Bachelor" (2018).
