Bernard Giraudeau

Bernard Giraudeau

During his long and distinguished career, Bernard Giraudeau was equally comfortable as a film actor, director, scriptwriter, producer, and writer. Giraudeau served in the French Navy during the mid 1960s, before launching his acting career in the early 1970s, with appearances on television shows (1971's "Au théâtre ce soir") and in movies (1973's "Deux hommes dans la ville"). By the late 1970s, Giraudeau branched out as a director and producer, but all the while continued acting. This resulted in Giraudeau hitting his artistic stride with a string of César Award nominations, for such films as 1979's "The Medic," 1991's "L'autre," 1994's "Le fils préféré," 1996's "Ridicule," and 2000's "A Matter of Taste."
