Boyd Kestner

Boyd Kestner might best be remembered for the prime-time soap opera "Knots Landing," in which he played the manipulative Alex Barth. However, he has a number of television and movie credits beyond that role, including one of the leads in a series based on S. E. Hinton's novel "The Outsiders." In the short-lived 1990 TV drama, he stepped into the role of Darrel "Darry" Curtis, a senior member of a tough Oklahoma gang called "the Greasers," who had been played by Patrick Swayze in Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 film version. This led to parts in television movies and a one-year stint on "Knots Landing" as Alex, a housekeeper's nephew who at one point blackmails the character of Claudia Sumner Whittaker. During the same year, he appeared in the television film "Amy Fisher: My Story" portraying Paul Makely, who in real life had been part of a love triangle with the notorious Amy Fisher and Joey Buttafuoco, which ended in attempted murder. Throughout the rest of the '90s and the into the 2000s, he had small roles in a number of high-quality movies, often playing men with military or law enforcement backgrounds.
