Christine Quinn

Christine Callaghan Quinn is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she formerly served as the Speaker of the New York City Council. She was the third person to hold this office. She was the first female Speaker. She was the first Speaker to be born in Glen Cove, New York. And she was the first openly lesbian speaker. She ran to succeed Michael Bloomberg as the city's mayor in the 2013 mayoral election, but finished third in the Democratic primary.
