After another failed attempt to defeat Red John, Patrick Jane hits rock bottom in a Las Vegas club on the fourth season finale. While the CBI investigates the murder of a John Doe on its own, Jane finds a new lover (guest star Emmanuelle Chriqui) and ends up shooting one of his own.

Christa has her busiest shift yet when she is responsible for all emergencies at Angels Memorial that occur outside of the E.R. Also, Mario bonds with an older patient with HIV, Malaya starts a bone marrow drive for Carla, and Leanne refuses a date with Cole.

Wilma steps in to help CB move on from Lainey with help from coach Mellor; Lainey learns she has unresolved issues from her past when mentoring a student.
