The 24 contestants enter the MasterChef kitchen and are greeted by legendary chef Gordon Ramsay; when they get over the shock he tells them will be here for the entire week to mentor them through the first stage of the competition.

The remaining contestants must use the ingredients selected by Melissa Leong for the mystery box challenge.

The contestants face the reality of twists in the kitchen, which they must overcome if they want to survive.

It's day two of Gordon Week and today is a service challenge day with Gordon Ramsay himself running the pass; Gordon praises their efforts from yesterday, saying that he tasted some of the best food Australian has to offer.

The chefs have three hours to recreate a Darren Purchese dish; unanticipated twist is thrown at the contestants in the final hour.

The teams' next challenge is to prepare a three-course lunch service at the Merivale Felix restaurant in Sydney.
