Ion Overman

Born and raised in California, Ion Overman started her acting career right after high school, appearing in the Vietnam War movie "The Walking Dead" (1995). Though after that debut role, it took a while to get regular work. In her early 20s, Overman landed guest roles on "Beverly Hills, 90210" (Fox 1990-2000) and "Norm" (ABC 1999-2001). In 2000, she joined the cast of soap opera "Port Charles" (ABC 1997-2003), playing Gabby Garza for three years. She kept hanging around the world of TV afterwards, showing up in episodes of "CSI: Miami" (CBS 2002-2012) and "The Drew Carey Show" (ABC 1995-2004) before landing a pair of multi-episode appearances on "The L Word" (Showtime 2004-09) and "The Young and the Restless" (CBS 1973-). After those, Overman found a leading role in the role of Viviana on the short-lived sitcom "Love, Inc" (UPN 2005-06). After that ended in 2006, she once again bounced around a few one-off guest roles before landing a major role in Tyler Perry's "Madea Goes to Jail" (2009). The same year, Overman appeared as Maria Scott for several episodes on "Desperate Housewives" (ABC 2004-2012) and as Detective Sam Blair on "The Ghost Whisperer" (CBS 2005-2010). She also played a detective in the drama "Tunnel Vision" (2013) a few years later. Around that same period, she also got in the holiday spirit, appearing in a number of made-for-TV Christmas movies. In 2017, Overman joined the cast of the Jeremy Piven-starring drama "Wisdom of the Crowd" (CBS 2017-) as Detective Ruiz.
