Jack Vandervelde

Singer and songwriter Jack Vandervelde first began recording and performing his thoughtful, earnest pop songs in the mid-2010s, making his official debut with the single "My Mind" in 2018. A native of suburban Boston, Vandervelde played music from a young age, first graduating from pots and pans to drums, then taking up the guitar, piano, and singing. The Beatles were an early inspiration when he began writing songs in his mid-teens. He was later inspired by seeing Ed Sheeran perform live. Also an aspiring actor, Vandervelde was a member of his high school's drama club when he heard about a casting call for lacrosse players in a film shooting on Massachusetts' North Shore. He and his older brother both earned roles in the movie, Crooked Arrows (2012). In 2015, Vandervelde moved to New York, where he worked with songwriters including Eren Cannata and recorded several of his songs dating back to high school. He also began performing live regularly, which he continued to do after moving back to Boston. In 2017, he toured the U.K. in support of Aston Merrygold and opened a local show for the Goo Goo Dolls. His debut single, "My Mind," saw release in early 2018. The song garnered over half a million streams before appearing on the Colours EP in early 2019. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
