Lexi Thompson

Lexi Thompson

Born in Florida, Lexi Thompson took to golf quickly. She grew up on a golf course, with a brother 12 years her senior who would also eventually golf on the professional tour. Thompson began playing when she was five and at age 12 became the youngest to play US Open, but failed to make the cut. At age 13, she won the US Juniors and at age 15 made the decision to turn pro. The same year she became the first golfer signed to an endorsement deal by Cobra Puma (Puma's newly formed golf division) and Red Bull. In 2011, at age 16, she won the Navistar LPGA Classic, becoming the youngest person to win an LPGA tournament. In 2013, Thompson won 2 tournaments, the SIME Darby LPGA Malaysia, and the Lorena Ochoa invitational. In 2014, Thompson won her first 'major' tournament, the Kraft Nabisco Championship, and became the second youngest golfer to win an LPGA major tournament. In 2015, Thompson again won two tournaments, the Meijer LPGA Classic and the LPGA, KEP Hana Bank Championship, and finished the year ranked number four in the world, her highest ranking up to that time.
