Marie-Mai

Marie-Mai is one of the most successful pop/rock stars to emerge from Quebec with a career that has expanded beyond the Canadian music industry. Encouraged to sing by her family, young Marie-Mai Bouchard became a breakout performer on the first season of the competive reality show "Star Académie" (TVA, 2003-) and parlayed that attention into a series of French-language albums, beginning with her hit 2004 debut, Inoxydable. A restless singer known for frequently changing her hair color, Marie-Mai continued her winning streak with Dangereuse Attraction (2007) and Version 3.0 (2009). In 2011, she took over the voice of Smurfette for the Quebec release of the big-budget fantasy movie "The Smurfs," a role fittingly originated by American superstar Katy Perry. After recording her fourth album, Miroir (2012), Marie-Mai reprised her part as the French-Candian voice of Smurfette in "The Smurfs 2" (2013), leaving the door open to future film work.
