Each team tries to add the most value to their respective kitchens and dining rooms; "Chopped's" Ted Allen tests the teams' mettle with a design twist, while HGTV's Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae Young judge.

After six weeks, a winner gets crowned, a street sign gets named and bragging rights get claimed in the finale. Experts appraise the houses and the teams finally tour each other's beautiful work.

The competition continues in week two as the teams tackle the first-floor living spaces.

The teams head outside because it's all about exteriors and landscaping on the block this week; each designer knows the importance of curb appeal, and this challenge could be the difference between winning and losing the whole competition.

Everyone heads down to the basements to design 1400 square feet of unfinished space, and tired of losing, two teams make big, expensive moves to grab the win.
