Patrick Breen

Patrick Breen was in a few plays in high school, but it wasn't until he was attending his first year of college that he decided that he wanted to pursue acting. He transferred to New York University, and, after college, formed the Manhattan Class Company, a theater group, with some of his classmates. Although live theater was his passion and mainstay, Breen spent plenty of time in front of the camera. His first role on screen was a guest part on the detective drama "Spenser: For Hire" (ABC, 1985-88). Like most character actors, Breen has a long list of guest roles, but unlike most character actors, Breen was a regular cast member on a substantial number of series. "Just in Time" (ABC, 1988), "Sunday Dinner" (CBS, 1991), and "Big Wave Dave's" (CBS, 1993) were his first series regular spots. All were cancelled during or after their first season. Breen also had a number of supporting roles in feature films as well. He appeared in two of his most memorable roles, in the classic sci-fi comedies "Men in Black" (1997) and "Galaxy Quest" (1999). Breen also continued to consistently work in television, before creating a "Whole Day Down," a web series with himself as a lead. He landed a recurring role on "Madam Secretary" (CBS, 2014-), as head of the CIA opposite Téa Leoni's Secretary of State.
